Pan Am Aquatic

Scarborough, Toronto

Project Description

Kalwall® translucent sandwich panels are a key feature of the award-winning Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC) on the campus of the University of Toronto Scarborough. The facility was recognized by Athletic Business with a 2015 Facility of Merit® Award.

The TPASC was built for the short-term goal of hosting the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan American Games and the long-term objective of delivering extensive programming for local recreational and community groups, as well as high performance fitness athletes.

The multi-sport facility houses internationally-sanctioned swimming and diving pools, an indoor track, a fitness area, a 38,000-square-foot multipurpose field house and a high-performance training centre.

The playing fields of the TPASC are one story below ground level. Kalwall panels were incorporated to help provide natural diffused daylighting that did not create glare on the playing surfaces.

Kalwall continues to be a preferred choice of athletic facilities throughout the world, providing glare-free, diffused daylighting that offers perfect colour rendition and helps improve an athlete’s visual acuity and mental focus.

Creating the perfect environment for both casual spectators and professional videographers documenting both practices and competitive matches where exceptional lighting is essential.

Translucent panels also offer enhanced security and provide visual privacy to shield activities within – all while delivering incredible energy efficiency and lower life cycle costs to owners.
