custom operable solution in the recreation sector

Style installed a custom moveable partition solution enabling it to be quickly split into two equal sized rooms or opened up as one large expanse. With an exceptional sound rating up to 50dB Rw, when the wall is in position, clubs, activities and other community groups can continue their meetings and activities undisturbed.

The 13.5 metre-wide hall can be opened up to create one large open plan area, where larger groups and functions can enjoy the extra space when required.

Located in Huntingdon, the Coneygear Centre opened in early 2020 with several different sized function rooms available for hire for community activities, a brand-new library with computers and tablets, changing rooms, a commercial kitchen and more.

With an aim to become home to the Supporting Older People’s Project, Coneygear Seniors, Grub Hub, the Medway User’s Group as well as other groups and activities, it was built to become a key part of the local community.

Working with Eastown Construction, Style was chosen by the local authority to help the community centre maximise its usage and revenue through flexible space in the main hall.

With this in mind, Style installed a manually operated moveable partition, enabling it to be quickly split into 2 equal sized rooms or opened up as one large expanse.

With an exceptional 50dB Rw acoustic rating, when the wall is in position, clubs, activities and other community groups can carry out their meetings and activities undisturbed.

Alternatively, the 13.5 metre-wide hall can be opened up to create one large open plan area, where larger groups, clubs and functions can enjoy the extra space.

The Coneygear Community Centre was reopened in February 2020 after a total refurbishment project, and Style provided a grey melamine finish to the moveable wall to complement the fresh, modern interior design – all stacking neatly into a pocket when open.

“Many local authority venues are using moveable wall solutions as an effective way of maximizing revenue,” said Mike Fine, Style’s director for the Midlands.

“The greater the flexibility, the more varied the room usage – and by having a moveable wall that can be opened and closed with ease means community halls, such as Coneygear, are able to host multiple events concurrently giving the maximum return on investment.

“A key aspect of this is the acoustic integrity of the wall. When renting out rooms it’s important to offer an experience that is private and quiet, and this is why our highly rated acoustic moveable partitions are so popular with ‘venues for hire’.”
